In March of 2022, I had an idea to write an advent and lenten devotional. I had obviously written content for the blog in the past, but nothing like an actual advent devotional made for small groups to use. By July, I was already diving in headfirst into the perfect set up for an advent devotional that didn't necessarily feel like all of the other studies I had done.
I wanted people to feel like the message of Christmas and the Advent season wasn't just one that was relevant in December, but in every aspect of our lives.
Thus, Seasons was born.

The word advent comes from the Latin advenire and adventus, respectively meaning to come and arrival. In all of the stories of Christmas, the news of the coming of Christ was met with different reactions: fear, doubt, humility, hope, the list could continue on. Now as we celebrate Christ’s coming, it can become a season where we forget the true message that we are expecting a King. Perhaps we are so caught up with the seasons of life that afflict us that we feel as if we don’t have room to slow down and prepare our hearts. How do we celebrate our season of advent throughout our various seasons of life? Over the next four weeks, you’ll be going through four mantras that help move through the Advent season whilst juggling the concurring seasons of our lives. Below is your guide throughout the next four weeks of this study. Each week will include the scripture assigned for you to read as well as some thoughts to meditate on as you are reading. As you read, be willing to listen to how God is revealing the glory of the Advent season through the scripture given to you.
Seasons is a 4-week group centered devotional that is completely adaptable to personal journaling. It follows 4 mantras of life that reflect the magic and complexity of the Advent story and the coming of Jesus, but most importantly it puts it into perspective.
