Lenten Reflection: Day 7

Jesus, the one who is revealed to us. 

It's sometimes hard to sit and think about what God is revealing to us daily. At times, it feels like when we know the most scripture, we know the most about God. And this is true, but not for what you expect.
I used to be incredibly motivated to read the Bible in a year as much as possible. Mostly because I could say that I read each page of the Bible. 
I found, however, that I would leave each year feeling exhausted, burnt out, and learning nothing. 
That's why I often tell people to never start with reading the entire Bible. Actually, I assure them that reading the entire thing will probably result in more confusion and anxiety than peace. 
When we break it into small pieces, however, it reveals small glimpses of the greater promise that is revealed in Christ Jesus. 
It's also more than just an account of what Jesus did, it's a reminder of who He is as fulfiller of God's promise to His people. A reminder of the promise to come one day. A reminder of the hope we can cling to. Like the Gospel of John states: 

"Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded this book. But these are written that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."
John 20:30-31

Praise be to God that we have His promises with us in scripture. ​
