Lenten reflection

Jesus, our hope and comfort. 

I have a favorite rest stop on my way home. Well, there's two. My second favorite rest stop is a bit newer. It has really nice amenities: a coffee shop, a boutique, a little cafe, and it always smells AMAZING when you walk in. It looks sleek on the outside, very modern and clearly built by someone who has a modern eye. The downside is that it's only really accessible going in one direction. To access it from the other side of the road, you have to cross traffic. And to get back on your drive, you would need to turn all the way around. Yet, without fail, I find myself stopping there regardless. It's worth it. It has what I need, and it is worth the inconvenience. 
My first favorite rest stop is a tad older, although they just rebuilt it due to a fire not long ago. It has a giant dinosaur statue on the corner to mark where it is. I don't stop there much, occasionally if I really need a stop on my way home, but it's my marker. It's my reminder that I'm almost home. You can make it. 
As you can imagine, both of these rest stops embody different aspects of the Gospel to me. 
Jesus, our refuge and home of all we need and also our comfort in troubled times. Throughout His life, we see Him become both of these things to His followers.
Though it takes more to follow Him, the benefits will always outweigh the inconvenience we might perceive it to be. He welcomes us to cross the road towards Him in exchange for rest and recuperation. 
And, Jesus comes as a reminder that we are almost home through Him. His light and sacrifice is a comfort to those who seek refuge and comfort. His love is a beacon of hope to us. 
"The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whole shall I be afraid?"
Praise be to God, our light and salvation and the stronghold of our lives. 
In Him we find comfort and hope. In Him we are blessed beyond measure.
