just another errand

​This past weekend I woke up 3 hours earlier than I usually do on Sundays. Mind you, church is at 11. And Lord knows I'm waking up with just enough time to shower, get dressed, scarf down a granola bar so my stomach doesn't growl and run out the door with seconds to spare so that I can walk across the parking lot and not feel winded when I enter. 
This weekend, I had 3 extra hours. THREE. And somehow I still ended up running. I was upset that I couldn't make my coffee in time, upset because I forgot my phone in the house and then when I got back into the car, thought I lost my keys (they were in my purse btw). ​

This Sunday, church felt like just another errand I was running.
As the service began, we sang our first hymn Praise to the Lord. And this verse sang:
Praise to the Lord, who will prosper your work and defend you; 
surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend you
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do, 
if with his love he befriends you
And then we sang Blessed Assurance. And this verse sang:
Perfect submission, all is at rest
I in my Savior am happy and bless'd, 
watching and waiting, looking above
filled with his goodness, lost in his love
​And I wept. Church often can feel like just another errand. To all of us, it's the thing we do on Sundays. As I've started this 25 day challenge, I've had moments where I just forget. I have to ask myself is this a chore? Is spending time with Jesus a chore? In that sanctuary, I made it my anthem to never see meeting with Jesus as an errand. Errands we despise. Errands we avoid. Jesus the Almighty, with infinite love in His hands, seeks to befriend us. We get to be lost in the love of the Creator of the Universe. WOW! 
So today, I apologize to my Maker. Forgive me O God, for You are greater than my failures.
